F. Nakata
Studios
Architecture that breathes with the city — built in Tokyo, lived across the world.
We do not chase the brief. We read the place, and then we propose what the place is asking for.
F. Nakata Studios is a 38-person architectural practice led by Fumiko Nakata, designing civic, cultural, and high-density residential buildings that resolve the tension between heritage place and contemporary need. We are the studio commissioners call when the project must read as inevitable from across the street and survive a hundred winters of scrutiny.
Every awarded project since 1996 has been personally authored by the founding principal. We accept fewer than four commissions in every hundred submitted — a deliberate curation that protects design depth, and the reason our clients return for an average of 11.4 years.
